We’re building a trusted network of Mentors and Angel Investors who are passionate about guiding the next generation of innovators. Whether you’re a seasoned founder, operator, or early-stage investor, your experience can help shape tomorrow’s startups. At IIC, mentorship is more than advice – it’s about building relationships, creating impact, and fueling meaningful innovation.
Our Vetting Process
- Application & Profile Review: We look for a minimum of 5 years in tech startups and recent, hands-on experience.
- Motivation & Alignment: Through your responses, we assess your intent, expertise, and approach to mentorship or investment.
- Personal Conversation: If selected, we’ll invite you for a quick call to explore mutual fit and answer your questions.
What We Look For
- Genuine desire to help and give back
- Deep expertise in areas relevant to our startups
- Active engagement, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit
We prioritize full-time startup operators and founders. Acceptance is selective – around 5–10% – to ensure a high-quality, committed community.

Expectations for Mentors
Dear Mentor,
Thank you for joining SparkLab as a mentor. Your experience, insights, and encouragement can make all the difference in shaping these early-stage ideas into purposeful ventures. To ensure a smooth and impactful journey for both mentors and participants, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines.
1. Your Role as a Mentor
- Offer strategic guidance on problem, customers, and focus.
- Help clarify the road to revenue with simple, testable next steps.
- Provide honest feedback and actionable playbooks.
- Encourage teams to think simple, sharp, data-driven, and user-centric.
- Be a sounding board, not a substitute executor.
2. Time Commitment
- At least two mentoring touchpoints per month (virtual/onsite) during the program (60–90m).
- Scheduled on email/communication channel; optional deep-dive for specific needs.
- We aim to balance efficiency and respect for your time.
3. Mentorship Process
- Each team will have a defined primary mentor plus access to domain mentors.
- Use short check-ins to confirm goals → actions → results and course-correct.
- Teams will maintain simple notes; we’ll share updates and next steps after each meeting.
4. What We Request You to Keep in Mind
- Respect privacy: treat any startup data as confidential.
- Be pragmatic: focus on simple experiments and small learning cycles.
- Diversity & inclusion: support a respectful, bias-aware environment.
- No conflicts: disclose potential conflicts; avoid solicitation.
- When in doubt, reach the IIC team for guidance.
5. Mentorship Agreement
- As part of SSSIHL governance, we expect a simple mentoring agreement (non-disclosure/consent) to be signed; we’ll email the e-form.
- This does not create employment; IP remains with the startup/institution as per policy.
6. Our Support to You
- We’ll send you a simple mentor toolkit (program flow, key dates, templates).
- We’ll facilitate intros to other mentors/faculty where relevant.
- We’ll showcase mentor contributions (with consent) in updates and events.
Thank you once again for sharing your time and expertise with SparkLab. These students and young innovators are here because they have ideas worth nurturing — and your mentorship could be the spark that makes all the difference.
Warm regards,
SparkLab Team
